Hi All,
I am working with a new startup company. They are not able to establish a portal connection immediately, but we have some IT requirements. How can we obtain resumes without using portals or reaching out to other consultants? Can anybody suggest some resume portals where we can access the contact details of the candidates? This is a request to experienced IT recruiters!
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
This is purely based on your experience that you can take on this task. I am not aware of any portals that can provide you with candidate contact details without signing an agreement with them. However, it's time to prove your ability in sourcing candidates with all the other options you can think of. Please revert back to me with your creative ways of sourcing, or else I can help you depending on the kind of platforms your company works with. Give it a shot; I'm sure many of us can explore various available options.
Regards, Abhi

Hi all,
Lots of views, only one response. Thanks to avk10. I am not giving any tips to do this; instead, I seek some suggestions. Recruiters/Sr. Recruiters/Asst. Manager(R)/Manager(R) VP(R)/Head(R), you are there to guide me. Just spend a minute for us; it is enough, and we will get some tips. Please...

Dear KVRKHRM,
I am Nithya, an Recruitment Executive. I just started my career 4 months ago.
It is really a good question. If you have a requirement for freshers, you can approach colleges, IT training institutes, and so on. If you want only experienced candidates, you must take up the strategy of HEAD HUNTING. It involves contacting companies and trying to recruit. However, this must be done in ethical ways.
A job portal is an important tool for recruitment, but not all requirements can be filled solely through job portals. We must opt for other strategies as well.
If you have any other queries, feel free to ask me.

You can find free portals at naukri-2000.com. This is the time you have to use your personal contacts/network. Try to get contacts from famous recruitment consultancies which charge fees from the employer. If your company can afford to pay the sourcing fee, then use top consultancies that charge fees from the employer or get private contacts. It works immediately. But remember, in this case, no one will help you if they won't benefit monetarily.

Hi KVRKHRM,
I have quite a few low-cost solutions for you:
1. Join and advertise on job groups/forums in Google/Yahoo pertaining to whichever job category you are looking for.
2. Visit local college campuses for the same (for freshers).
3. Try free portals.
4. Ask your friends and other professionals.
5. Internal employee referencing.
6. Advertise in leading dailies.
7. Advertise in paid portals like Naukri, TimesJobs.
8. Hire a placement consultant/agency (where you pay them money).
I will tell you about other methods if these don't work out.

Hi,
My name is Jai. In my view, you can go for a paper ad, walk-in, post requirements in Yahoo groups or HR groups, make cold calls to the targeted companies, and ask for references.
Hope it works. Correct me if I am wrong.

Dear KVRKHM,
The best source is your internal reference policy scheme. Instead of paying it to a consultant, you can allocate that amount to your own employees. This will motivate them and help to increase the goodwill of the company among the staff.
Your existing staff can understand the organization's exact requirements, and they can refer suitable candidates. Moreover, working with friends brings enthusiasm and zeal.

Hi,
Using job portals like Naukri, Monster, etc., is not advisable for IT requirements because most companies utilize these portals nowadays. It is better to create a list of target companies for your client and engage in headhunting and referrals.

Hi KVRKHRM,
Interesting question. However, I could suggest the following:
1. Yahoo groups
2. Orkut communities
3. Forwarded emails (where you can get the email addresses of a few persons). This can itself become a potential database over time.
4. There are databases available in the market where you can find contacts, such as 10,000 email addresses.
5. Resume drop boxes at ATM counters, malls, etc., where you can collect potential resumes from candidates.
6. Advertisement hoardings in important locations displaying the email of your company.
And the list can go on and on...
Thanks,
SG Vignesh

Dear KVRKHRM,
I take care of all IT recruitment in my company. I suggest you to join some Yahoo job-related and other groups like JobsAhead, etc. Over there, you can find many resumes and post your requirements as well. From those candidates, you can have references of their colleagues.

Sandeep

Hi Kunal,
Headhunting is the right way because when portals were not there, recruitment was done through headhunting. But in present days, we have Yahoo groups or any other groups that are purely meant for jobs, where all come together who are in need of jobs or sharing knowledge. Give them a try.
Thanks,
Kunal

Hi,
You can try Googling, which can get you some results. You can also try posting your needs on message boards or user groups (but these are usually very focused, so you need to be careful about selecting the right group). There are also quite a few smaller portals that offer free resume searches (these may be pretty small).

Hi,
I am working in a recruitment firm where I can't go for daily newspaper ads. Sometimes, as per my clients' requirements, I can't find profiles from job portals, and references also don't work. At this moment, what steps can I take to fulfill the requirement?

1. Campus recruitments
2. Local IT training institutes
3. Newspaper advertisements
4. Display posters in the populated areas of the city
5. Ask employees to refer their friends, relatives, and give incentives for this!

Hi Navaneeth, It was interesting to know that you are not recommending Naukri or Monster. Why you think that these are not good resources for IT recruitment. Cheers! Lalit
Hi KV,
This is Irfan. I am working as a recruiter in a consultancy for 4 months. Portals are one of the major sources for getting required resumes. Yours is a newly started company. You can do headhunting and you can also use references.
Ok, bye.

Hi Sweety,
I believe that references will greatly assist you. I am also working as an HR Recruiter and have recently joined, undergoing training. Could you please guide me on the process of headhunting through the Naukri portal? Specifically, where should I input the exact keywords?
For instance, I am currently employed at Kotak Mahindra Bank and we are seeking an Account Manager for corporate salary accounts. However, I wish to source candidates solely through headhunting. What specific keywords should I use on the Naukri portal?
