Hey guys,

I'm doing a project on employee engagement. I have collected data from 80 respondents. I need to do analysis through SPSS. Does anybody know how and what tools and techniques can be used for the same?

Thanks in advance. Please help me.

Hi Priya,

First, tell me what tool did you use for data collection. Is it a standardized tool or did you prepare it on your own? If you prepared it, then you have to calculate the reliability and validity of the tool first to avoid incorrect results.

If you have used a 5-point Likert scale, then all you need to do is calculate the mean value of each dimension and interpret it.

Hello Priya,

If you post the instrument and your hypothesis for the study, it will help us guide you. If you are a student undertaking the project, I wonder what the role of your academic guide/advisor is. If you can't post the material due to the organization's limitations (confidentiality), drop me a private message giving details of your course and where you are studying, etc. Have you tabulated your data on SPSS using respondents along the rows and questions or elements of instruments at the top? If you send that as an attachment, maybe I could guide you.

Dilshad is quite right. You need to check the instrument for reliability and validity.

Hi,

I collected data through questionnaires using a 7-point Likert scale of agree and disagree. The problem is that I have the data and software, but I am not sure what to do next. My academic advisor, assigned to me by the college, is an economist and doesn't have any knowledge about HR matters. I can attach the SPSS sheet for your reference.

Thanks a lot.

Hello Priya,

It's not enough just to send the Excel sheet. Do you have access to SPSS? Do you need to use SPSS for analysis, or are you allowed to use Excel?

Remember to label the column headings; otherwise, it will be unclear what they represent since the questionnaire is not attached. You can also assign codes to represent categories; for instance, 1 for male, 2 for female, etc.

Once you have completed these steps, please send me a private message, and I will provide you with my email ID.

Dear Sir,

I have the SPSS software, and I need to conduct the analysis using SPSS only. As SPSS files cannot be attached here, I have copied the information into an Excel file. I have already categorized the data by age, gender, service, etc. Unfortunately, I am unable to attach the questionnaire here as it is customized to the company, including its name and policies. I have included the scale in the Excel sheet along with the data.

Thank you very much for your help.

Dear Priya,

What you choose to present in your report is important, especially when using any tool in SPSS.

However, most readers are interested in:

1. Factors contributing to Employee Engagement - specifically, their overall rating within the organization.
2. Factors contributing to Employee Engagement - such as their overall rating among different departments, functions, or types of staff, or between male and female staff.
3. Your valuable findings and suggestions.

Thanks
