I was working in X Company, then I resigned and was serving the notice period for 30 days. My last working day was on 28th Feb. During the notice period, I received two job offers. Y Company processed my joining without requiring a resignation letter or experience letter. I admit I made some mistakes, but I was dealing with personal issues at that time, which caused me to overlook these things. I received an appointment letter for the joining date of 10th Feb, but I declined the offer.

Subsequently, I joined Z Company on 1st March. The issue arose when Y Company created a PF account with the joining and exit dates as 10th Feb. I only became aware of this today when I received a message about the PF amount transfer from X to Y. I have not received any salary from Y Company and haven't worked a single day there.

I have not obtained the resignation letter from X Company yet. Could this potentially lead to double employment issues? How should I address this situation? I am feeling very anxious about it.

This will not technically amount to double employment as your date of joining and exit is the same (10th Feb), and pertinently no salary is drawn. You need not mention Y company in your experience as you did not work for them at all. However, for PF purposes, the routing of your PF Account will be through Y company. You have a convincing explanation, and this can be offered if asked. Get a relieving letter from X company effective from a date prior to 1st March.

Hi KK!

I received a relieving email from X company on the mentioned date, which is 28th Feb. Yesterday, I received a message stating that all PF amounts are going to be transferred from X to Y, and I have the option to stop this transfer within 10 days. Upon checking my EPF account, I noticed that an auto claim has been initiated, but my attempts to stop it have failed. Additionally, I observed that in my EPF account, there are two PF accounts listed, with X company only showing a joining date and not an end date due to the pending February PF amount.

I am unsure of the necessary steps to take at this point. Should I reach out to Y company and request them to reject the auto-initiated transfer? Furthermore, could this situation potentially cause any issues in the future or with my current company? Both Y and Z companies are MNCs, but I initially joined them in a Contract-to-Hire position.

Thank you for your assistance.

Yes I think you may contact Y company and stop the transfer of PF. As already explained no such concern remains as regards your tenure in Y for any future purpose once your PF account is sorted out.

Ok, don't worry. It may be X, Y, or Z companies. The person is only single. If it is the new company "Y" started EPF A/C and closed, you don't think of double companies and double accounts. It automatically updates EPF software for a single account under a single name of a person. Go ahead. Send an email to EPF about any consequent messages if any, but don't confuse. All the best.

It is seen as a very minor issue, but your worry and consciousness are understandable. You are suggested to explain your existing company clearly and get rid of it. As explained in the expert's reply, now you can follow any solution that will be more suitable for you.

Hope you will resolve it.

Thank you for all the replies. I called Y Company, and they said, "Don't worry, we have not submitted any PF amount, so the transfer will not happen." I hope this will not create any issues in my Z company, which I joined on 1st March. I will update you on what will happen. I hope everything will be fine.

This could have been amounted to double employment as your date of joining in Y company is 10th Feb, which is much prior to your date of exit, i.e., 28th Feb from X company, since Y company shows 10th as your exit day. You should collect your relieving letter from X company as early as possible for your future requirements.

Thank you.
