Hi Raj,

Just to share my opinion... In the Hospitality Industry, no HR can handle all kinds of activities. It is better if you consider recruitment as another division. One person can focus on recruitment while another can handle the remaining activities. The job description provided by Ravish is sufficient. Broadly, there are the following activities:
1. Recruitment,
2. Legal Compliances,
3. Employee Engagement, and
4. Payrolls.

Best Regards!

Mr. Ravish,

With reference to your job description, I have created this one. Actually, I handle all the HR department of this hotel, and there is no manager to whom I report. But since I have less experience, they have given me the designation of HR Executive.

Job Description:

- To Manage End to End HR Generalist Activities such as Recruitment, Performance Management, Employee Relations, Employee Engagement Activities, and Statutory Compliance.
- To coordinate with the entire HOD and understand their manpower requirements and fill the vacancies promptly.
- Assist Department Heads in customizing Job Descriptions.
- Handling Industrial Relations and Labour Union Issues of the Hotel.
- Provide advice to the General Manager to assist in meeting strategic objectives.
- Plan Bonus, commission, and incentive schemes for the relevant staff.
- Handle transfer and promotion procedures.
- Manage Wages and Salary Administration.
- Design HR Forms, documents, and processes.
- Prepare efficient work schedules considering hotel and labor requirements.
- Handle employee queries and grievances.
- Approve leave after considering hotel requirements.

Please review the above job description and let me know if any changes are needed.

Thank you.

Raj, if there is no HOD in your department, that means you are directly reporting to the GM, and your JD is fair, depending upon the manpower strength in your property and as per the requirements of your General Manager. This varies based on the size and requirements.

Thanks

Dear Mr. Ravish,

Yes, there is no senior person in my HR department to whom I report. I report directly to the company's directors, VP, GM, and Corporate Head of HR. I have been handling the entire HR department of this property by myself. The employee strength of this hotel is only 150.
