Dear Shweta,

Training and Development has been my area of interest and specialization. I have been handling Training and Development for over 100 organizations.

To start with, you need to review the KRA/KPA of the employees. These factors would directly affect their appraisals for the next year. Therefore, employees should find the training and development program arranged by employers useful.

Secondly, conduct a needs analysis or a small research (via questionnaire or survey) to determine in which areas employees require training.

Subsequently, you may design training programs to take place twice a month (on Fridays or Saturdays) or as per your convenience. The most crucial aspect should be linking the training programs properly - a clear link should be established between past and future training programs.

This approach will help you in designing the calendar. If you have any further doubts, feel free to reach out to me!

Hi Shweta,

When framing a training calendar, you should always keep in mind that your calendar reflects your identified trainings. The calendar should focus on learning outcomes, program objectives, topics to be covered, duration, and the targeted audience. Once you have prepared a manual for this, you can divide your training programs into four main quarters.

Most importantly, you can divide your calendar into two main areas: technical and behavioral. For technical trainings, you can gather inputs from performance appraisals, have direct discussions with supervisors, and conduct interviews with employees. For behavioral trainings, you can cover topics like time management, the effects of absenteeism, induction programs, team building, self-development for better quality of life, important employee traits, and improving communication and interpersonal effectiveness, among others.
