I have completed B.E. and am currently working in a private company as a Whitebox Testing Engineer with a salary of 11k per month. I now feel that this salary is not right for my qualifications and the work I do. Typically, my company offers a 2k increment during probation, but I am unhappy with that amount. How much can I request for an increment during the probation meeting?

It is not a good idea to ask for increment after probation period. It is not for you to decide how much you should be paid...it is for company to decide...and I am sure they do have processes in place to assess how much you are worth of. Six months down the line, you might begin to feel that your salary should be increased to 25-30k…it cannot be done. Just concentrate on your job and do a good job.

I feel it depends on your company culture. Do they offer every employee 2k, or are there any exceptions? If you are a fresher, think twice before asking for such a big amount, since the difference is too significant. It's better to be practical and ask for 4-5k more, but then be brave and ask because if you ask, you will get it.

BEST OF LUCK !!!!!

Hi,

It might be because of their previous experience or the time they have already spent in this organization. You are a fresher learning new things to increase your experience. Then, certainly, someday you might be in a position to put forth your demands. But in real terms, you cannot decide your worth; it is the company that decides it. You could have thought about this before taking this job.

Hi,

I believe the first two years of service are an investment. During this time, you should not focus on earning more but rather on gaining as much knowledge and experience as possible. These learnings will benefit you in the long run. In the industry, never compare your salary package with others. Instead, concentrate on working hard to advance in your career, and you will naturally rise to the top.

Hi,

The learning you are getting now is your investment for a better future. Get some experience and concentrate on your learning. Once you have ample experience, you will automatically be eligible for better pay. If you feel that the compensation being offered is not fair, you always have the option to look for better opportunities outside. However, for that, you need to have good experience and skills in what you do.
