Hi people,
I am just wondering how you are finding working with a female HR boss? We all know that everyone is different, and it's individual behaviors that set them apart. In my HR career, I have had 4 male bosses and 2 female bosses (my current superior is a woman).
I have had the most enjoyable moments working with my male bosses. Not only can they handle themselves very well, but the guidance and coaching they provide are superb. One male boss was a womanizer, but he did not make it apparent at work.
I have encountered 2 of the worst experiences in my whole career with female bosses:
1. They lose their temper frequently.
2. They change their minds frequently.
3. They have mood swings.
4. They show their anger openly.
5. Less appreciation is shown.
6. They can be egoistic.
7. They are fussy.
8. They can be clumsy at times.
Along the way in my career, I have looked up to many managers and bosses, hoping that one day I could achieve their positions. This is a determination, but I continuously remind myself that I will never behave like them. The behavior and attitude you mirror to others are very important because every manager fails to realize that one of their associates is looking at them for inspiration and motivation. It is very disappointing that we talk about human resources development, but the essence of it is not well absorbed even by the person who is initiating it.
Again, I would like to stress that not everyone is the same, but mostly, based on my experiences with female bosses, it is unquestionable. They can be difficult to work with and fail to behave like professional working adults.

Well, sir, I don't think it's genuine on your side to give such a general statement about lady bosses only based on working with two female superiors. You can't judge millions based on just two examples alone. Additionally, you didn't disclose your own behavior while working with these ladies, and many other such facts were still undisclosed.

I actually want to disagree with you somehow on the thing you said that people are all the same. In this world, the main reason why HRM was invented was the fact that people are so different and vary with time. It's because of this that also, there exist psychologists too.
I would advise learning about your woman HR boss because at one moment, she cannot be anywhere close to how the past bosses were. However, I feel that it's good that she brings out her feelings, and that, I guess, should be your strongest point to understand her situations.
Anyways, I pray that you find the best in your boss because when you do, you will find it so easy to deal with women bosses. Although, I would like to know your sex as well. CIAO

Well, I have to disagree! In fact, I have come across male bosses with the negative traits that you mentioned. I give full credit to my first boss, who is a lady! Whatever I am today or how people know me in my industry is because she groomed me well!

I had one lady boss who was a real pain. She was a very strict person, not much knowledge, and just became an HR manager by hook or crook. She knew nothing, and I had a tough time dealing with her. That was only for 14 days. Many females have this complex where they fear that they might be dominated by men and hence start dominating men themselves, harassing them. It's very hard to deal with such ladies.

Even I do not agree with you. I think if we understand the way of working of our boss, whether female or male, things would be easier.
And I would like to tell you, just keep in mind "People are different and not difficult." Life will become easy everywhere. Just learn to deal with different kinds of behavior of people. :)
