Flat organizations are those where the number of levels in the organizational hierarchy is reduced to the least. These structures enable better communication, reduce red tape, improve supervision, and enhance productivity. However, the structure of the organization depends on the nature of work and the type of industry the company is in.

Flat organization is a type of organizational structure where there are very few levels of management and there is a decentralized structure to increase employee engagement in decision-making of management as well. Ideally, small organizations use a flat structure to keep their management open.
