Hello Kavitha,

My suggestion for you is to register yourself on Naukri.com and Monster.com. Initially, you may be recruited as a management trainee, and as you gain experience, you can progress up the corporate ladder. However, before proceeding, ensure you have a clear idea of the vertical in which you wish to gain experience, whether as a recruiter, an HR generalist, or in core HR activities.

Lakshmi

Hi, I am looking for an HR Generalist's role in a big company. I currently work at Accenture with 3.6 years of experience as an HR Generalist. I've recently registered myself on Naukri and Monster. However, I receive calls for a recruiter's profile. Does this mean that there are fewer opportunities for an HR Generalist? If the contrary is true, then how should I proceed?

Thanks & Regards,
D

Hi Kavitha,

Before making a decision, you need to conduct a SWOT analysis for all areas. Choose the one in which you score the highest. All three areas are good, but the selection should be based on the analysis, your interests, and your future plans.

If I have the opportunity to speak with you, I can suggest which area would be the best fit for you.

Please email me for further details at karnati.ajay@gmail.com.

All the best!

Ajay

Hello Kavitha,

Welcome to CITEHR. As everyone has said, CITEHR is going to be a useful site for you. For your career as an HR professional, do not think of any one field like training, performance appraisal, etc. HR is a huge field. What you studied theoretically and what you learn practically in an industry or other establishments would be quite different. As you get along with people and the issues, you understand that HR is not one particular area. It is a wholesome development of self and also others.

So get into any HR executive posts and start learning. Later you can specialize in one, but please be clear that there is nothing like one area in HR, and you specialize only in that.

Regards,

K. Ramachandra
