Dear friends, how are you all?

After a long time, I am posting here. I need guidance for my career. I have 9 years of experience in HR and admin. For the past 6 years, I have worked more in the admin department but not in HR. I showed less preference for the HR department because of my management. Now, I am looking for a job in HR. I have attended lots of interviews, but I couldn't get any job, and I don't know the reason. In the past 6 months, I was on maternity leave for my delivery. Now, I am planning to continue my job. I have heard that my company is going to close due to losses, and I didn't receive any certificates from them.

Next week, I am planning to attend the interview. They have contacted me and confirmed the date of the interview. They also need my payslip. Please help me with how to proceed with this. Kindly advise on this matter.

What you have learnt so far in last 9 years of Admin Department? How you can improve the performance of Admin Department singlehandedly?

Dear Cynthia,

You have asked a query about your career advancement. However, the way you have written your post requires a lot of improvement. Your post could be a manifestation of your perennially informal approach. This approach is suitable while dealing with friends and family members and certainly not with seniors when seeking career guidance.

You have written, "I attended lots of interviews but I couldn't get any job; I don't know the reason." Possibly, your casualness could be one of the reasons for the rejection of your candidacy. Whether you are from Administration, HR, Finance, or Procurement, one expects a properly worded post. When writing posts on professional forums like this, there is no exemption from proper grammar. However, you have used language more suitable for chat messages on social media.

Therefore, the first lesson for you is to learn when to be formal and when to be informal. When the line that divides these two approaches becomes blurred, it can take a toll on one's career.

Thanks,
Dinesh Divekar

Dear Cynthia,

It is sad news that you are going to lose your job due to the closing down of your establishment. You are now attending interviews in search of a new job. It is commendable that you are striving for a new opportunity. As you seek guidance from the community on how to proceed in advancing your career, remember to highlight the areas where you have the best working knowledge. Acquire a thorough understanding of core areas and focus on two core subjects in your field where you excel. Do not lose heart; instead, maintain the belief that you can succeed. Good luck.
