Dear Colleagues,
I have just moved to the UK on an HSMP visa and am looking for HR jobs in the UK. I have about 2 years of work experience and hold an MBA in HR. I would appreciate your advice on any HR websites I should visit to update myself on UK HR laws and policies. Additionally, it would be wonderful if you could also provide advice on any HR openings in the UK. Is a CIPD qualification a must for an HR job here? Your comments will be of great value to me.
Thank you.

Hi all,
It does take time to find HR jobs in the UK as they consider this area more generic and would prefer locals as they perceive them to have a better understanding of the local laws compared to us Indians. But be at it because there are many HR jobs which are in the offing. Besides, you might have to start from the bottom of the hierarchy.
Cheers,
Neerav

Dear Neerav,
I think a CIPD would definitely be of help in finding a suitable placement in HR in the UK. With CIPD, the standards themselves will bring you up to the level of the locals in terms of understanding local regulations.

Dear Friends,
I would like to know what formalities a person working in HR in India needs to take care of when applying for a job in the UK. The job scenario in India is quite different from that in the UK. How should we prepare ourselves for this transition?
If any of my knowledgeable friends have relocated or are aware of the formalities one must adhere to in relation to organizational demands in the UK, kindly help me with the details.
I am eagerly awaiting your responses.
Thanks,
Renu

Hi all!
I am looking out for a job in HR in Leeds, West Yorkshire. I was working as an admin officer since November 2007. Since I didn't get any break into HR, I pursued my MBA in HR from India. I have been applying for jobs for two months and have been unsuccessful. Am I right in deciding to take up CPP qualification? Please, someone, help me by providing the appropriate advice. Since the course is expensive, can someone suggest cost-effective centers in Leeds?

Hi Ankita!!
If I am not wrong, you are expected to be a CIPD qualified. Well, they might consider your profile at times. Priority is given to the ones who are CIPD qualified.
In any case, if you find even an HR-related job at an executive/ground level, please go ahead for it as work experience in the UK is taken into consideration as well. However, this is my opinion based on my experiences and learnings in the UK.
Thanks,
Yashica
