I am working as Head of Process Quality in Muscat, Oman in the Middle East. My department works in areas related to Employee Development, Quality of interaction with customers, Customer Satisfaction, and also a variety of Organisational Development functions. I have been given a KRA of employee engagement this year. I need to conduct internal surveys and make strategies and plans for increasing the involvement of employees.
Can you provide me with some material/tips/suggestions?

Dear Punn,
Employee Engagement Surveys would be more fruitful if they are conducted by an external consultant rather than internally. The main reason is that employees would feel more secure, comfortable, and open with their real feelings if they believe the data they share will be confidential and their identities will not be disclosed. When the survey is conducted internally, even with all measures taken to ensure confidentiality, employees may not perceive it the same way and, therefore, may not be open with their true feelings. Hence, I suggest the survey should be conducted by an external consultant.
