Hi, everyone. As a part of my summer internship, I need to recommend a sales academy development blueprint to my organization, which currently doesn't have any training facility for sales personnel. I need everyone's help.

How should I go ahead with the development of a sales training academy? Which other companies have sales training academies? How do companies train their sales representatives?

You should first start with some common sense and critical thinking. The answers are easy and will come to you. If after developing some ideas of your own, you need help that demonstrates your thought process, you may post your ideas along with the question. There are numerous clueless individuals asking for complete solutions without making an effort on this platform. Please take a moment to think. Furthermore, while you are at it, improve your spelling and strive for clarity in your writing.

Dear Anu,

Your ID indicates that you may be a student at XLRI, Jamshedpur (a top-ranked institution). If so, I am surprised at your query with inadequate info. Hence, let me raise some questions as is my wont.

How large is the firm, and how many salespersons are there?

Does the company want to impart training using external or internal trainers?

As Satyayish has observed, you seem to have raised this query without doing any homework. Had you only searched the web using keywords from your query, you would have found some ideas at [link outdated-removed] (Search On Cite | Search On Google)

I also make mistakes when I type in a hurry. However, when I re-read the message after posting, I correct them using the Edit facility. I hope you will do the same and take any criticisms in the right spirit.

Anu, please excuse my visceral reaction. Please know that it was not aimed at you personally but at everyone who comes to this board seeking someone to do their homework for free without having the slightest clue as to what it is and without having spent the slightest effort on it themselves.

Their tagline sounds like this, "Hey, I got this piece of homework thing to do but I am too busy finding out what it is or how to do it. Could you please take a stab at it and just leave it completed on my drawer. While you're at it, please, there's this wonderful YouTube video I must watch from yesterday night's Comedy Circus. Please carry on and post my homework. Endless regards and all."

Now, getting to your question. It's usually a good thing to go back to your managers with a set of questions and read between the lines. I just sent you a private email. If you'd like my help, please write back or call me.

Dear Sathyaish,

I am extremely sorry as I didn't maintain the forum standards and didn't provide proper information about my concerns regarding how to develop a sales training academy. Actually, I am new to this forum, so please forgive me.

Here are the exact details of my project:

1) Develop the sales training academy by analyzing the best-in-class sales training facilities of sales-based organizations through primary and secondary research.

2) Propose the sales academy blueprint.

Regarding your comments about doing homework, I have been going through journals and theses. I have identified the following steps to develop training facilities:

A) Perform training need analyses of sales managers and representatives.

B) Setting up the objectives.

C) Development of the training modules.

Next, I have to benchmark it with the existing sales training academies of various organizations. Can you connect me with the concerned person of any companies that have sales training facilities? It will be of great help to me. Also, can you help me out with the TNA (Training Need Analyses) questionnaires for salespersons?
