Hi,

I have been looking for information or guidance from this site on how to implement a "Grading System" in my organization. I am sure many of your organizations already have a grading system in place, and recruitment, incentives, promotions, etc., are based on that.

My organization is a dealer for cars, lubricants, and also provides workshops to support the car business. Hence, employees consist of mechanics, technicians, sales staff, as well as accounts, admin, imports, exports, etc.

Please provide me with guidance, tools, or documents related to the grading system. I am primarily an admin person and have limited knowledge in HR-related activities, besides the support roles I have played in my previous organizations. The new job I have taken up requires me to contribute to HR activities as well.

Thanks & Regards,
John

John,

Hi! You need professional help. Designing and implementing a Grading System (i.e. designing Salary Grades & Structures and assigning positions/jobs to each grade) is a very complex process that touches on the Job Evaluation (JE) Program.

Non-HR people like you should seek professional assistance because you cannot learn them from short discussions in this forum. And, nobody will teach you the full details done by professionals like us. We can help you. Contact us if you have a budget.

Dear John,

I agree with Ed Llarena Jr. You would require professional support if you are doing this for the first time. You would need to understand the process as a whole, how the dynamics work in your sector, local competitive compensation input, and finally your organization's requirement.

All these need a lot of research and expert understanding. Please do consider hiring one. In the meantime, work along your knowledge level as you would need to work parallel with the expert. Here are a few documents and discussions that might help you to work on your knowledge level. To read more, please use the research tab to find a more accurate document.
