Dear Menka,
In any factory, festival & national holidays would be observed under AP National & Festival Holidays Act, in AP. Generally any Festival Holiday falls on Sunday we will have the option to chose Holiday for some other festival whereas any national holiday such as Jan 26, Aug 15, Oct 2nd etc., falls on Sunday, employees will loose such Holidays and there is no possibility to get another holiday in place of national holiday falls on Sunday. However, there is no bar that in case your management considers to grant holiday in lieu of such day no one will say NO to it but there is no need to give any subsituted holiday. I hope it is clear to you.

Hi Menka,
I agree with Harindra. Basically its your company policy that how many holidays that youwant to give. But As per National & Festival holidaysact,Company has to declare the mandatory holidays as holiday.
Ex Republic Day
May Day
Independence Day
Gandhi Jayanthi
Rajyotsava in Karnataka and Andhrapradesh
Thiruvalluvar dayinTamilnadu
Even if this day falls as sunday you have to show in your holiday list and the holiday list needs to be displayed inyour notice board ordesignated place where you post all your notices.

National Holidays needs to be observed on the days it falls as per the National and Festival Holidays Act in all calendar years. 2010 seems to a holiday calendar that has many Sundays as holidays. If managments can adopt a benevolent attitude some of these benefits can be extended to the employees in your orgnaisation.

Hiiiiiiiiii All,
This is Namita Rai. Working with an IT company in Pune.I have one query in leave policy structure. We are giving 18 paid holidays(incl- SL,CL),14 listed holidays(national holidays),2 marriage leaves,1 birthday,1 anniversary, & 1 special festival leaves for the year. Now i want to know, if an employee opts for 1 festive leave, do that leave i have to adjust with any listed holiday leave or should that be an add on leave.
Is there any kind of policy followed for such kind of festival leave. Would appreciate if i get any guidelines for such kind of spacial leaves allotted.

Is there any policy stating that apart from the national holiday only 8 or more or less other festivals to b given as holiday for the entire year or there can be only 8 holidays for the entire year and what if any festival comes on Sunday is that possible to adjust on any other working day.
in any private company total who many holidays are considered in a year including national holidays.
