PROJECT SYNOPSIS
WORKING TITLE:
An analysis of the recruitment and selection process and it’s effectiveness in PSUs.
PURPOSE:
During the last few years PSUs. is also striving to grow in a competitive, globalizes scenario. The company continues its quest for good quality products and customer delight to meet the challenge. In such a situation, human resources and their competency play an important role, as the real strength of organization depends upon the strengths and capabilities of its human capital.
As part of Human Resource Function, recruiting and screening is the first line of defense when it comes to bringing the right people into the organization. Determining who the right people are, should not limit to experience and education, but with personality, attitude, communication abilities, and other behavioral characteristics that fit the organization. PSUs has been using advertisements for hiring both upper and lower level position. Recruiting strategies such as news paper ads no longer attract talented candidate specially for upper level positions.
Purpose of this report is to measure the effectiveness of the recruitment and selection process and also to find out the best approach that produces the best pool of candidates. To select the "Right person for the right job" is one of the most important and most difficult responsibilities of the executives. In view of above, it becomes imperative to study and analyze the effectiveness of the media in recruitment and selection process.
AIM:
To analyze the present recruitment and selection process in the company & to measure the effectiveness of the use of media in the selection process and suggest the company to choose the best approach that produces the best pool of candidates quickly and cost effectively.
OBJECTIVES:
• To understand recruitment and selection policies of the company.
• To analyze the recruitment and selection process adopted by the company
• To analyze the use of media in the recruitment and selection activities in the company.
• To suggest some ways to improve the quality of recruitment for the upper level positions.
HYPOTHESIS:
An effective approach to recruitment process that produces the best pool of candidates quickly and cost effectively.
OUTLINE OF RESEARCH METHODOLOGY:
LITERATURE REVIEW:
In order to study the effectiveness of the existing system of Recruitment & Selection Practices at Andrew Yule and company in the light of emerging competitive scenario and also to measure the effectiveness of media in recruitment and selection activities .
EXPLORATORY INTERVIEWS:
Exploration regarding the effectiveness of media in recruitment and selection activities will be achieved through interviews with the employees in the personnel department within the company.
QUESTIONNARIES:
Interviews with employees would take place to measure the effectiveness of media in recruitment and selection process .
EVALUATION:
This step will bring the information’s and datas collected in the previous steps.
WRITING UP:
This stage is involved in writing up the content of the dissertation and also covers the chapters proposed in the following section.
