I am in Human Resources now and would like to know what the take is on Induction manuals. Why are they necessary when an induction should simply suffice. I would any help on this.
From Nigeria,
Dear Colleagues,

To my mind the need for Induction Manual would be basically for documentation purposes and easy referal to issues related to such.

One thing we need to know is that the content of Induction/s would certainly vary from Industry to Industry and of course Company to Company-hence the need to streamline boundaries to avoid derailment.

Another issue would be that for new in-takes to properly grasp the runnings of their workplace they can easily refer to this document instead of always coming back to the HR for all interpretations of circumstances and allied.

Things that would be contained in such document may include but not limited to the following-

*type of business/es company is into

*branch/es/subsidiary/ies

*board membership

*managerial hierachy/organogram

*number of departments/names

*reporting channel/s

*resumption/break/time closing time

*general information about the company-addresses, telephone numbers etal

It should be noted strongly here that this kind of document- that Induction Manual is certainly different from an Employee Policy Manual.

Thanks

Hi,
Induction manual is a good idea both for the new employee and the HR personnel since in big organizations it is quite a difficult task to get back to HR with all your queries about the working of the organization and basic idea about who to get in touch with for what(which is necessary during the first few days of your joining).
This should be a handy manual which satisfies most of the general queries that a new employee might have.
Thanks.

Thanks a bunch. I quite appreciate the information given. Forgive my delay in showing this appreciation I did not know how to navigate the sight and so did not know where to view a response to my request. Citehr please provide information on that casually. I had my eyes on my corner and thought that reply there meant a reply to my request. It was zero until yesterday when I replied someoneelse's topic.
Thanks again Ajayi and Sonia

Hi Oruye,
Not a casual reply... this seems to be a serious issue. Usually the best way to make sure that you know when you receive a reply is by keeping the "Notify me when a reply is posted" checked. Unless your email address is bouncing CiteHR emails you will know when you receive a reply.
I am planning on building a small page describing the navigation and use of the site's features but will take some time as am currently drowning with work related to a job fair. Will get it up soon though.
A big hurray for all you members who have made this site a useful resource for all of us. If anyone has any suggestion regarding how to improve the site or if you find something difficult to use please do send me an email.
Best regards,

Dear CiteHR Admin.,
I would like to mention here same was the case with me. But in the past 3 months by try and error I've learnt a lot about the site. I really appreciate this site and keep telling about it to many a friends of our profession. This site is like an encyclopedia of HR policies, processess and guidance. It is like a mentor, has answers for any and every question. it is an amazing site and i really appreciate all those who have made this site and are contributing to it.
But building a small page describing the navigation and use of the site's features would help a lot.
Ciao,
Vinisha
