One person was recruited as an assistant. Manager ( Supply Chain Management) . He worked only for 6 Months and he wants to get relieved. The reason for his resignation is that he got better emoluments with the new offer. Is it mandatory that we give a relieving letter and experience certificate as he worked only a short tenure, not even completing one year

If you are given appointment order for him, definitely the reliving order will be given. If not, discuss with the management and take decision. Rajesh.S

Hi, As long as the Employee serves proper notice period as per the employment terms, proper relieving order/ experience certificate should be issued.

Relieving letter is an evidence of his relieving from duties. It is for your benefit that a relieving letter is given to an employee. A relieving letter will not show any service history nor will certify the skill, ability etc of an employee. Therefore, you can issue a relieving letter even if he has not gained any experience. On the other hand, a service certificate is issued to certify the service history and the abilities he possesses or has gained by working in your organisation. You need not issue any service certificate if you feel that he does not possess any skill to showcase, but you can issue a relieving letter. The former is addressed to 'whomsoever it may concern' whereas the latter is addressed to the person/ employee concerned. The latter will be worded like" Accepting your resignation dated, you are hereby relieved from service." No comments about his service, no comment about his designation (you can just mention his name and Employee number) and it is not necessary that it shall be issued in company letter head. It can be issued in official correspondence pad which is used to communicate with departments and employees.
