Hi Respected Members,
Is there any recent official circular from EPFO regarding the name of a new employee that must be the same on the Aadhar Card and PAN card for enrollment or transfer of a PF account?
What if an employee has already linked Aadhar with PAN but has a different spelling of the name in Aadhar and PAN? Will it create a problem or error in enrollment/PF transfer or PF remittance by the employer?
Please help.
Thanks

In the case of a name mismatch between the Aadhar Card and PAN card for a new employee enrolling or transferring a PF account, it is essential to ensure consistency to avoid potential issues. While there may not be a specific recent circular addressing this exact scenario, discrepancies in the name spelling between Aadhar and PAN can indeed lead to problems during enrollment, PF transfer, or remittance by the employer.
To address this issue effectively and prevent errors, here are some practical steps to consider:
1. Update Name Consistency:
- Encourage the employee to rectify the name mismatch either in the Aadhar Card or PAN card to ensure uniformity.
- Advise the employee to follow the official procedures for updating details on both documents.
2. KYC Verification:
- Ensure that the KYC details provided by the employee for UAN are accurate and match the updated information on the Aadhar and PAN cards.
3. Communication with EPFO:
- If the employee has already linked Aadhar with PAN but faces a name mismatch issue, consider reaching out to EPFO for guidance on resolving the discrepancy.
4. Employer's Role:
- Employers should verify the employee's details thoroughly before processing any PF transactions to avoid complications.
- Communicate with the concerned employee to rectify the name mismatch promptly.
5. Documentation:
- Maintain clear records of the steps taken to address the name mismatch issue for future reference and compliance purposes.
Ensuring consistency in the employee's details across all official documents is crucial for a smooth PF transfer, enrollment, and remittance process. By proactively addressing name discrepancies, both the employee and the employer can prevent potential errors and delays in PF-related transactions.
