In the event of an establishment being unable to pay the bonus within the stipulated period of 8 months as per section 19 (b), the employer can submit an application to the appropriate Government, stating the reasons for the delay. This application would request an extension of the period as provided for in the proviso to section 19 of the Payment of Bonus Act, 1965.
