Dear all,

I have been working in a Pvt. Ltd. company for the past seven months. I resigned from my job in March 2020, which was accepted by the chairman of the company (my manager), and I am currently serving the 30 days' notice period as per my employment terms and conditions.

During this period, I have sent multiple reminders to HR to initiate the handover process and complete the exit formalities; however, no one has paid any heed. Now, with my relieving date just a week away, the CEO is pressuring me to extend my notice period by a month.

Please advise.

Dear Aarti, If the extension of your notice period does not cause you any trouble or hardship, such as joining a new job or shifting the family elsewhere, you can do it after consulting the prospective employer or members of your family as the case may be. Since the nationwide lockdown is to continue up to the middle of April 2020, why can't there be the same administrative problem in the new company or a problem of mobility in case of shifting to some other place or country? Think it over, please.
