Knowledge on Labour Law affairs will sure to add credentials of HR managers. Though it's a specialised field in dealing with IR matters many of JD & responsibilities calls for indepth knowledge, uptodate info on recent regulations, settled court cases, recent developments in enacting amendments etc. So a law graduate can be preferred among candidates competing for HR posts. Law degrees thru' distance education are not recognised now a days by many recruiters. Even Bar Associations also don't recognise such degrees. A few years ago some colleges were conducting evening classes for law degrees which are derecognised now. However there are Diploma courses thru' distance education by U'sities for specialised subjects like-International law, Labour & Admin.law, Intellectual Property Rights, Income Tax laws, Taxation, Arbitration Law etc which can only help acquiring knowledge. May be such degrees can be accepted for serving employees by employers here and there. Yes you can do, not with a view to secure employment for reasons discussed above.
