The Bar Council of India (BCI), which governs standards of legal education in India, introduced a 20 years age limit for the five-year LLB course and a 30 years age bar for the three-year LLB course from this year. According to me it’s not only unfair, arbitrary, discriminatory but also against the directive principle of Sate policy.
I request you to put your views. It is very important issue most of the HR manager wants to purse Law degree after experience in there core field. The move of BCI will not only wash the dreams of many people but it will set wrong example. In near future you will see there is age limit for P.hd.

Dear,
I do not have an idea about this. If this age bar is given, then it should not be there. I too agree with you. Earlier, they have taken such steps as the Bar Council of India fixed that you can register to practice up to the age of 45 years, which was later ruled out by the Supreme Court.
Thanks,

I think we should collectively look into the matter coz education in any field is on the interest of the persuer. There should be no age bars.:x
Dear All,
Thanks for your views, but we have to do something, but I don't know what. I request all HR family members to share their views and ideas.
The Law Ministry has also given their approval, and the BCI guidelines are binding on law colleges. A writ petition has been filed by xxxx in the Mumbai High Court to stay this decision, but so far, there has been no progress.
Thank you.

Hello,
BCI is making a mockery of itself by the so-called "quality-improvement" process of imposing a maximum age limit of 30 years for a 3-year LLB. I have the following reasons:
1. India is lagging further behind in solving IPR-related cases. The reason is that to understand IPR, lawyers and judges have to be technically competent. This competence is severely lacking, despite India making significant contributions to WIPO and recently becoming a signatory to TRIPS. To address this, there is a need for technical experts to study law so that they can handle these IPR-related cases effectively.
2. BCI has a list of foreign universities/institutes that offer law degrees recognized by the BCI. Foreign applicants holding these degrees can take a qualifying exam in India to register with the Bar council. These foreign universities/institutes do not impose age barriers on their degree courses. For example, the University of Buckingham, London, allows any individual over 25 to enroll in the course. It is ironic that while BCI recognizes these degrees, Indian citizens are restricted from pursuing legal studies in their own country.
3. If quality is a concern, BCI should set a specific year, for example, starting from 2020, when the age barrier will be enforced. This deadline will allow lawyers or technical experts to acquire the necessary knowledge to practice law effectively.
I have corrected the spelling, grammar, and paragraph formatting in your text. Let me know if you need any more help.
