Nominee of your brother is eligible for death benefit under the Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme, 1976, provided he was in continued employment at the time of death.

The minimum benefit provided under the Amended DLIS is Rs. 2.50 L w.e.f. 15th Feb. 2018. However, your brother's DOD is 8th Feb. 2018, it will be calculated on the basis of prevailing Rules at that time. You need to forward Death Claim in PF Form 20 & 5 IF thru his employer.

Also check whether he was a member of PF and why his claim form was not submitted/processed for settlement. If he was married, Widow Pension is also applicable for his spouse and unmarried dependent children till they attain age of 25.

EDLI Circular is attached for the benefit of all.

(Funeral Benefit under ESI is also available for Members Max. up to Rs. 10K)

Regards, Suresh
