I am working as an HR in an organization. However, my boss does not have a good way of speaking to the employees. He uses very abusive words, and I feel very bad. I wonder why we can't say anything to his face because he is the boss. I just want to ask if there is any law or way to tell him that his behavior is not appropriate.
Thanks and please help me out.

Laws are plenty to handle the case. Starting from filing a police complaint for the use of abusive words. However, in a practical approach, show indirect resentment by politely objecting to such words. If someone addresses anyone in a rude or abusive way, the person concerned should pretend not to have heard and ignore the words. If it is repeated, tell him, "Okay, Sir, you were telling me something." One will have to be diplomatic and smart to convey things and express unhappiness about language that is disrespectful. It is better to communicate when he is in a happy mood, but do not tolerate such abuses. Remember, he is the employer, not your Supreme master or dictator who can do as he pleases.

Dear Jyoti,
May explore:
1) Make an official complaint to his superior or the topmost in the company - mentioning that the behavior of your boss is obnoxious and in violation of general conduct rules. It causes mental trauma and stress to you and creates an intimidating and hostile environment.
2) I'm sure some of these abusive words would be with sexual remarks/connotation. You can very well file a complaint under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment at the workplace act.

Hello Jyoti,
First, you should clarify one thing and seek assurance from employees before taking any action against them. It may happen that due to the fear of losing their job, they might hesitate to cooperate with the police or any other authorized person. However, as an HR professional, you have the right to communicate with them and express your concerns in a polite and official manner. If the situation does not improve, then you can consider taking further steps. If the employee is being abusive towards you, you have every right to report the behavior and take appropriate action, but for other issues, ensure you have confirmation.

Monika
