Before the last two months of maternity leave, the employer has sent a "Notice of Termination" and asked that they are giving a two-month notice period. The reason for termination they wrote in an email is "Termination of designation held."

Is it legal? What actions should be taken? What are the options available? Whom to approach first, the Factory Inspector, or should consult a lawyer?

Thanks

Section 12 of the Maternity Benefits Act is relevant here.

Termination of employment is not justified by a vacancy, especially when it concerns a pregnant woman. It is advisable to consult the local labor office with all relevant details and then proceed to address the issue with the company through a labor advocate.
