I am working in a Pvt LTD company. In my offer, there was a one-month notice period. However, my company had me sign an agreement with a two-month notice period. I have already served one month of notice, but they are asking me to serve an additional week, which I am not ready for as I intend to join another firm. The agreement also includes a buyout option. Do I have to pay for one week or for the entire one month for the buyout?

When it is mutually agreed for service of one more week, the buyout has to be of the same duration. However, you have signed an agreement for a two-month notice period. So, if you are able to leave with one week's notice, consider yourself lucky.

Collect the email where they have asked to serve more than 1 month, then you can email them saying, "I have to join my new company on the date: ....... As per the email above, I am ready to give 1 week's notice."
