Hi All,
I am working as an HR in a software company with over 300 employees all over India. I would like to request any of you to provide me with information on how to automate the manual processes related to project-wise employee data, individual or team-wise productivity, etc.

Hi Hima, To understand and answer your query, we need a few details like:
1) Is the report you are looking for related to the human resource information system, where all basic personal details of employees and their departmental movement tracking are available?
2) The productivity report is a part of the performance management system, which is not directly related to HRIS but can have a slight impact on the internal movement of employees. Are you looking to set up a performance management system?
3) Which system has your company adopted? Are there any reports formed and maintained in Excel sheets, or do you have software for such activities?
Please provide the above details specifically so that your query can be answered with relevance.

Hi Harpreet,
Thanks for the response!
We have internal software that we use to capture the basic employee details. As you mentioned, the productivity report in terms of team and individual is being prepared by us manually in the form of Excel sheets. Based on the Excel sheets, we prepare PowerPoint presentations which provide an analysis of our profit or revenue details, helping us understand and improve the process.
We would like to automate this process and make it more effective and systematic.
Regards,
Hima

Hi Hima,
So basically, what you are looking for is an automation of the performance management system. Although there are several tools/software available in the market which support your requirements, however, before getting into automation, one has to understand the basic concepts and principles of PMS.
The reason behind every PMS is to regularly check that employees are synchronized with management-set goals for the defined period. In order to verify this, several PMS systems like BARS, 360 Degree, management by objective, Assessment Center, Critical Incident Technique, Essay Evaluation, and others are adopted and implemented. However, companies often tend to forget or skip the alignment of human resources with the basics. A manual understanding of each method is critically required. Analyzing why and which method is required is a key factor as per the environment and conditions of the business or SBU.
To further comment on this, I would like to add Mr. Dinesh Divekar, who is an expert in this area and would certainly guide you further. Please wait for his updates on the topic.

Dear Hima,
If you wish to capture the productivity of the project personnel, there is software available on Project Management. Why not use it? In your second post, you mentioned that you measure the work done by the project personnel manually. The introduction of software will eliminate your manual work. However, it depends on the type of software you choose.
Mr. Harpreet Walia has recommended the introduction of PMS. While PMS is an organization-wide intervention, it does not cover the granular aspects of day-to-day work. Nevertheless, software on project management could assist in the development of PMS.
For Mr. Harpreet Walia: - Thanks for recommending my name for the introduction of PMS.
Thanks,
Dinesh Divekar
