My friend's company closed without giving any notice. The company says they will give salaries to employees until the company receives acceptance for closure from the concerned authority. However, they only paid salaries for 3 months and then stopped. After 8 months, he received an offer from another company and joined there, but the previous company still needs to deposit the PF, as does the current company. Can one person hold two active contribution PF accounts with one working and one under a closure company?

Previous company will pay the PF dues in past months only. Ask the new employer to seed the UAN and wait for the previous company to meet the EPF dues. Once the previous company pays the dues, file a transfer claim.

@ Mr. Sharma,

Thanks for your valuable response. Will he be able to get salary from the previous company and up to which month? Will he be eligible for any compensation that will be decided by the concerned authority, if any? This is because he joined a new company without going through any resignation process with the previous company. What should he do?

As the old company is not active, the present salary is out of the question. Please provide an immediate backdate for the seeding of UAN and wait for the deposit from the previous employer, at least for the working period.

Note: This is a reply to EPF matters only; the balance eligibility can be discussed between the employer and the employee.
