Dear Mentors,

There is an employee in our organization who is on probation and coming late to office every day. Work wise since we are a small organization so there is no pressure on her and she is completing all given tasks to her but everyday she is late to office.

She was taken on verbal call by HR and late coming consideration was done for her in initial two months. Third month again late coming deduction was done from her salary but nominal.

She is giving reason that entire night she and hubby both are awaking with baby who is just 6 month old. Both are late to office everyday. Her husbands office is near to her office. Both comes together.

Now she has completed 3 months and demanding for confirmation letter. But we are dicey whether to confirm her or not since may be after confirmation this issue might become a big issue for HR. As an HR we are thinking to extend her probation period for one month with a warning of late coming improvement.

Please guide whether its male or female during probation period such activities should be considered. Can we extend probation period on this ground.

Warm Regards
