What Could be the best compensation strategies with regards to Mergers & Acquisitions?

I was going through the case of Jet Airways acquisition over Air Sahara which was $500mn deal but had to be withdrawn because of lots of employee issues. What could have best been the strategies in this case had the deal not been taken off???

WHILE MERGER AND ACQUISITION, THE EMPLOYEE CULTURE IS TO BE PROPERLY ADDRESSED AND TO BE UNDERSTOOD, OTHERWISE THEY WILL OPPOSE THE MERGER/ACQUISITION DEAL.
THESE INCLUDES THE COST OF EMPLOYEES WHO WILL STILL REMAIN AFTER THE MERGER.
SECONDLY, THE ISSUES RELATING TO THEIR ROLES AND RESPOSIBILTIES ARE ALSO TO WELL DEFINED AND MUST BE PLANNED WICH ULTIMATELY HELPS THE ACHIEVING THE GOAL OF THE NEW ORGANIZATION.
