Hi,

If you can help me out with any policy wherein we can have 365 days support, including public holidays, in the organization and in turn give them any kind of benefit, may be monetary or in-kind, which encourages the employee to do so. Please let me know.

Dear Deepti,

What is the nature of your industry? What is the product or service? What type of services do you provide that require 365-day operation? Of the total number of employees, what percentage of the employees will be required to work on Sundays/Holidays?

You may create a duty roster in such a way that those who work on Sunday get their weekly off on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. Having the weekly off during the week is preferable because employees can complete their bank-related or other work on this day. Employees who work on Closed Holidays need to be given compensatory time off within 30 days.

However, when designing the duty roster, ensure that the number of weekly offs or compensatory offs does not accumulate. I have seen a few cases wherein employees did not request their weekly off or compensatory off and then requested 15 days off at a stretch. Managing this prolonged absence is still tougher.

Thanks,

Dear Dinesh,

Thank you for your response. The nature of your industry is Life Sciences and has its software. To take care of the software application, the company needs someone to handle it 365 days. There are 5 employees who are in charge of this software in India, of which they need to handle on rotation. Shall work out roster as per your recommendation, also if you have any policy as such, please share it with me.
