Dear friends,

I have a doubt. One employee left our company in June 2015 and rejoined in November 2015. At the time of filing PF return, the date of exit has been filed in the PF Return. My doubt is whether I have to enroll the employee as a fresh employment and transfer his previous balance or can I continue with the previous PF member Code. If I can continue with the previous member ID, kindly let me know how to proceed.

Regards and thanks in advance,

Suresh Babu B

Hi, Mr. Suresh Babu,

Once an employee leaves the organization, the relationship between the employee and employer ceases to exist. Therefore, if the same person joins again, you have to enroll him/her as a new employee.

You mentioned that the employee left in June and rejoined in November. Did that employee work somewhere during the three months between June and November? If so, he may have a new PF number, in which case you may need to transfer his PF account to your establishment.

If he was not employed during that time, you can contribute to the existing ID.

With Regards,

Dear Suresh,

It is not possible to continue his previous PF number if you have already shown his date of leaving in the monthly ECR (Return). Please allot a new PF number and ask the employee to apply for the online transfer claim form to transfer his previous PF funds to the new PF number.
