Hi, I am Santu Banerjee. I have submitted my original educational documents to an organization for a job, and there is a bond with me for two years. The bond states that if I leave my job within two years, then I have to pay. However, in the last 3 months, I have been absconded. Now, the employer is calling me and threatening me for money. If I do not pay, they will take legal action against me.

Please give me suggestions on what I should do.

You should have put this query before you absconded. Please search this forum for similar queries, and then you will get some information that will suit you.

Did the company give you any specialized training?

What was the nature of training? What does your offer/appointment letter speak of job profile? You need to handle this carefully or you may face legal problems.

I feel that whatever the training would have been during your initial period, absconding from work or not answering calls is not an answer. Remember, original documents are with the company.

It is always better to close the issue by meeting in person and settling the dues, whatever they may be. Legal action is always an option for them.

You had to sign the bond, or was it just in written format and sent to your mail? Because we also have bonds for training. Let me know so that I can give you some suggestions. My father-in-law is a lawyer, so I can help you in that case.

Training was for product knowledge. The interview was conducted from Noida for a month. The problem arose before the interview, which they had committed to. After joining, there was a significant difference. I have a voice clip showing how they pressured me to leave the job.

Can you please elaborate on these lines you mentioned: "But the problem is before the interview, which they committed to, after joining there was hell and no difference" AND "And I have a voice clip on how they pressured me to leave the job"?
It's not clear what you are trying to convey. However, you mentioned that the training was about the company's products. Obviously, this would involve some level of specialized training, and for such trainings, bonds are legal and viable.
As Nathrao mentioned, you should have asked BEFORE absconding.
One thing that stands out as odd in your post is that you seem to be focusing ONLY on the money you are being asked to pay and not mentioning anything regarding the original documents you provided them, presuming they are still with the company.
By the way, taking originals from any employee is illegal.
Regards,
TS
