Hi, I've been told by my HR Head to prepare a Learning and Development Philosophy for our company. Our company is into Civil and Infrastructure design work and consultancy business. How should I move ahead and draft this philosophy? Please help.

Dear Michael,

The dictionary meaning of "philosophy" is:

a) A belief (or system of beliefs) accepted as authoritative by some group or school.

b) The rational investigation of questions about existence, knowledge, and ethics.

c) Any personal belief about how to live or how to deal with a situation.

Considering the various meanings of the word philosophy, it can be deduced that this word is too big for corporate training. There are various business processes while running an enterprise, and training is one such process. It can be said that it is a sub-process of the HR Process as a whole.
