Hi Samidha,
Please do not plan anything before even analyzing or assessing the present situation of your company. Once you join start preparing an ASIS Report. As your company's strength is 70, you can meet all the teams and speak with them and try to probe and collect their concerns. Speak with your management or your manager and get to know what are your limitations. There should be some policies implemented already, check whether the employees has anything to comment on that. Once your compile the report and the situation in your company, you would be able to prioritize the course of action.

Samida,
When you were interviewed for this job, did they ask you ANY questions about your knowledge of HR, and ability to do the job??
Once again, I fail to understand how people get jobs that they know nothing about!
I would love to work in HR. I know nothing about HR. Anyone out there prepared to give me a job??

Dear Samidha...
Just apply simple logics. HR is not a rocket science to require expertize.
Try to write down - Who are your customers, What they expect from you (as a HR), What are the critical factors to make them satisfied.
Now prepare your action plan to achieve those critical factors.
Do PDCA every time.

Maybe you should ask your superiors for guidance re existing policies and systems before you go about finding new and " better" ones ?
IMHO, always better to know and learn about what exists at present first.
@Aussiejohn - we are like that only :-) Seriously, I think Samidha is just gathering different inputs. Those who hired her obviously saw possibilities else they won't take the risk....
