Hi.I need to study employee engagement of women contract employees at the shop floor level, in a food manufacturing firm. How do I start?

Hi
You need first to understand what is the level of engagement of this category of employees. After gauging the same you need to prepare action plans to address the low scoring areas to enhance engagement. Moreover important is to align the engagement to your organisation's objective.

Go through various studies on employee engagement>>Go through studies on EE in an industrial setup>>Define engagement>>Define engagement on a shopfloor>>Define scope of study, subjects, demographics etc>>Outline assumptions for the study>>Create a hypothesis(optional)>>create a tool (questionnaire, open ended quetionnaire etc) to gather info>>qualify the gathered data in objective form>>use measures to quantify EE>>Present findings>>Compare with hypothesis>>Present inferences and/or conclusions>>Give suggestions>>END

Dear Mr.Ganeshan,
You cannot engage directly in to the process which comes under core activities under the provisions of Contract Labour (R & A) A ct-1970.you can engage them in House Keeping, Gardening, Packing etc.,which are not come under core activities. More over their role of work is intermittent and perennial in nature.
Thanks & Regards,
