I have completed my MBA in HR and Marketing from Pratap University. Due to some fee issues, the college didn't give me my final marksheet and certificate. I have reapplied for the scholarship, and the fee issue will be resolved by the end of this year. Currently, I have my semester results up to the 3rd semester.

I aspire to pursue a PhD and become an assistant professor. Can you please guide me on how to apply for this?

Hi Sonu,

First, get the final mark sheet. Without the original certificate, no university will entertain you for admission for a Ph.D. Even if some universities accept your application based on a photocopy of the final result, you will need to show them the original during admission, or your money will be forfeited.

A few quick pieces of information:

The minimum qualification required for appointment as a lecturer/assistant professor is NET/SLET. If candidates have a Ph.D. degree in compliance with the "University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for the award of Ph.D. degree) Regulation 2009," they shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET for recruitment and appointment to assistant professor or equivalent positions in universities, colleges, or institutions.

UGC has stated in a public notice that NET/SLET/SET shall not be required for such Master's degree programs in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET accredited tests are not conducted. As per the UGC Act, 1956, the UGC is empowered to define the qualifications required of any person to be appointed to the teaching staff of the University/Institutions.

Visit the NET/SLET/SET/UGC website/internet for more information.
