Hello Seniors,
I would like to explain my query in detail so i would request you to please be patient.
so, i got an offer from a company in the mid of december 2013 and i requested my current employer to release me. They asked me not quit and promised me that they will pay me as per my expectations in the month april (2014) this year. I was not convined , as a verbal promise is not legit in corporate companies, and asked them to give this to me writing. I asked them to confirm this over an email with the exact amount and the month and year when this will be done ( ie april 2014) . Now, i am getting the sense that they may not do as i have completed all the work and the process is smooth.
if they dont change the amount to my the expected figure, is there any way that i can get them to do it ? I am really worried ?
Thanks so much
Slim

I really fail to understand why everybody is behind filing case on companies for anything and everything. Slim if you were not convinced then you should have joined that another company.
Second thing, you want to go legal do you even know how much time consuming this process is?
I am not favoring your company as I do not know where are you working but my point is why do you want to waste your time, money and energy for this pity things. Please go and talk to your Reporting Manager and HR escalate it further if needed and try to find the solution instead simply take a legal action.
There will be a middle way out what you need to do is communicate the same with your management and I am sure they will listen to you.

Also difficult for me to understand the same to file a suit against the appraisal , as it was solely depend on the company to perform appraisal or not. Thanks & Regards, From, Sumit Kumar Saxena

Hi Monica/ Sumit,
The last thing i want to do is to file a suit or start a litigation process. I only want to make sure that they change the specific amount on the agreed date. If they dont change it, is there any other way ?
I am sure you understand that there is some amount of beuracracy and polictics that prevails in every oraganization, which motivates people to renege, that gives you a hint about their intentions. I can only ask you all to put yourself in my shoes and then provide me with an honest answer, as i feel that i have delivered what the company needed and now it their turn to show some rectitude.
Hoping for a better response
Thanks
Slim

I ll second Monica,
its simple, since the organization did a
miscommitment, you may file a suit, but for that you wont be able to proof as it requires a written proof, plus it would take a lot of time, and above all you can not fight with these corporations... the best thing to do is to keep working and applying for a new job... till you get one..!

Dear Peers replying to the thread,

It is indeed a pity where people are demotivating fellow peers while their thought process are SO aligned towards corporate organisations. It is this accepting attitude of people which is why there is INCREASING level of frustration among salaried employees across different levels.

There is no sense of responsibility among HR teams when they make commitments and promises.

Moreover, there is a sense of failure and cowardice within all who advise not to fight back only because it would be waste of time and efforts. The best thing is not to BEND DOWN AND KEEP WORKING!

Dear Slim,

Unfortunately I cannot suggest anything what you requested, but I do share your pain, as I have been in the position you are now in. I chose to withdraw from my offensive mode too, as UNFORTUNATELY what other people in the forum mention is TRUE.

What we do earn & learn from this corporate crap is that there is no such thing as PROMISES even in big corporate orgs. If at all your organisation is ready to bargain with you to stay, the compensation should be paid on the spot and NOT 2-3 months down the line WHATSOEVER! No crap about written commitments and promissory letters.

One thing before I finish, acceptance doesn't mean defeat!

Every dog has his day... Today, it's for your HR team.

As mentioned above by a member it is foolishness to accept the promise of salary hike after a period of 3-4 months. Since you have trusted in the month of December and waited till March, it is advisable to wait for another 1 month, do your job with utmost loyalty and sincerity. If the salary hike is not affected in April, search for a new job, if you are knowledgeable and experienced you will get ample opportunity. But this time if you get an opportunity don't get divulged in false promises. That's all we can wish for. All the best
