First of all, you should identify/select a topic on which you wish to do the research and make sure whether this research paper forms part of your curriculum or you wish to do the research as a freelancer just for the experience's sake. Who are the target group? If this is going to be part of your qualifying degree, don't go ahead without the directions of your HOD/Guide.
