The phrase "one month" is not actually an extension. It is allowed only if the woman is suffering from any diseases arising out of delivery. Seventy days of contribution are during the period of two consecutive contribution periods preceding the ED of delivery, not exactly during the preceding year. This is the condition under the ESI scheme. Under the MB Act, the condition is 80 days of working under the employer during the 12 months immediately preceding the date of her expected delivery.

Dear Sharma,

It's not 3 months; it's 12 weeks in the case of confinement and 6 weeks in the case of miscarriage. Furthermore, nowadays, one can check their eligibility criteria without any hurdles or passwords by visiting the Insured Persons' web link: ESIC: Portal Application.

With regards,
