We appoint a trainee for 12 months period. Due to some unavoidable circumstances, he quit the training after 9 months. Is it recommended to issue him experience letter for that period?

I have a question in mind regarding Trainee Period & Probation period.
For trainee for how many months we should keep as a trainee period & probation period ideally as per law??
And what about salary structure & payment need to be done?
