Hello Everybody,

I am working in a Mechanical Engineering Manufacturing Company, and we do not have any separate policy for the third-party contractors who are working with us. Our Management wants me to create a separate policy called "Contractor Management Policy," which includes the dress code, working hours, how to maintain the record of contracted employees' whereabouts, etc. However, I have never come across such a policy, and I would like to request all of you to give me some ideas about similar policies that you are following in your company.

Dear Siju,

Are you referring to contracts/contract labors under the Contract Labour Regulations & Abolition Act? If yes, you need to have a system in place to comply with all legal provisions applicable to them. Please see the attachment; it shall be helpful to them. You can introduce some clauses in the "contract" itself to impose upon the contractors to comply with uniforms, safety shoes, and other codes of conduct.

Contract Labour Management is a serious subject and has legal and financial impacts on one's business. I would advise you to seek the help of a professional/consultant to implement the same.
