Good Morning Everyone,

I work for an Australian MNC at its corporate office in India. As each one of you is aware, we are very close to the 42nd National Safety Week, which is on 4th March 2013. Each year, we celebrate this program with lots of zeal and commitment to meet organizational goals towards sustaining an incident-free work environment every day.

As always, we try to do something different every time to motivate employees at the workplace. This time, I am out of thoughts.

CAN YOU GUYS PLEASE HELP ME OUT WITH GOOD SUGGESTIONS FOR SAFETY DAY? THANKS

Dear Mr. Revu Chavan,

Nice to see your posting on CiteHR. First of all, a very warm welcome to the EHS forum of CiteHR. Hope you will be a regular and participating member here.

You can get a lot of inputs on how to celebrate the NSD from this website. Use the RESEARCH option available at the top of this page. Apart from that, you may organize the following:

1. Organize an in-house exhibition displaying details of all the facilities/infrastructures/PPE available.

2. If you have sufficient space available in your plant area, an open exhibition will have a greater impact. You can create a different atmosphere.

3. In this exhibition, involve as many people as possible. Create departmental competitions for the stalls and encourage showcasing their best practices. You may see great ideas emerging, which will have a significant impact.

4. Organize a rescue drill involving all employees.

5. Consider organizing training programs for the family members of your staff. This will help in engaging them more strongly in the safety culture development, for example, LPG Safety Clinic, Defensive Driving, etc.

6. Theme-based Safety Play (Natak) competition, such as Safety at Height, Electrical Safety, etc. Make it an inter-departmental competition and observe the results.

There are many good things you can do. Please share what you manage to do differently for your organization once you have completed celebrating this year's NSD. All the best.

As you expect to receive input regarding your query, many people are coming up with a lot of queries. I hope, as a senior professional in the field, you will be involved and participate in the days to come in the CiteHR EHS forum.

Thanks in advance.
