Hi Help would be very much appreciated.
I was selected by HDFC Bank for the post of Teller. I recently appeared for the Pre Employment Medical Test. Everything went fine except the eye test. During the colour blindness test I could answer only 2 out of 10. The doctor told that I am colour blind.
I am very tensed. Plz. let me know if I would get the offer letter from HDFC Bank or this wiil cause any problem.

Hello Meenududeja,
Asrar Khan is right in that 'every company has their own norms'.
However, you mention that the post/position is that of a Teller. This position invariably NEEDS ZERO COLOR BLINDNESS--since a lot of work would involve verifying/scrutinizing currency notes to check for fakes/genuineness. That could be the primary reason for this test to be included in the Medicals in the first place.
Like Asrar Khan suggested, talk to the HR, to check out IF there could be other positions for you--where this will not be a Disqualifying factor.
All the Best.

Hello
As far as I can make out, the reason they did not find you a suitable candidate is "colour blindness" is a disability and non-starter for the kind of function they needed to fill. Score of 2 from 10 is extremely low... and I assume they would have tested you for more than 50 shades.
While I was working as in a large export house engaged in textiles and soft-furnishing products... this was a criteria for the checkers in the stores and other related functions where colour shades (recognition and differentiation of fabric lots) was so vital.

Get yourself tested for colour blindness outside as well to be sure. Banks do not accept colour blind.

Dear Meenududeja

Please do not feel disheartened.

Medical standards and fitness is essential in several jobs. Many candidates get rejected, and they have to accept it as a fact of life and look for other avenues.

I have personally known many who wanted to go in defence forces including police, airline pilot, several technical services; but were rejected on medical ground.

There is one case of a person in my earlier organization, who was rejected as Senior Operative (Trainee) because he was detected as having Colour Blindness. Hoiwever, later on, on compassionate ground, he was selected for a very lower post of Pump Operator in the Water Supply Deptt of the Plant Township.

He was well-qualified, also a Post Graduate and good at computers. During a special assignment, he was sent to me, as a data entry operator.

I came to know about his plight, and found him to be very hard-working and sincere, despite the fact that he was very depressed that due to his colour blindness, he is working at a very lower level than his friend.

I motivated him to take up the challenge and prepare for the Management Trainee (Administration) exam. which being of non-technical in nature, did not have 'çolour blindness' as a disqualification. He worked very hard and surprised me by clearing the exam in the very first attempt itself. It has been a few years now, and today he is a Senior Manager in the HR department.

What I wish to convey is, keep working hard to achieve your goals.

May be, in place of a Teller, God wants you to become a Manager in that bank.

Warm regards.

Dear Meenududeja
Kindly do not get panicky. Entire internet.. the doctors and people around you would say that colour blindness is not curable.
This is curable and in India also we have such clinic. Please check Dr.Goyal in Mumbai.
May please check "www.sanjeevan.in" and check for yourself.
You may also get in touch with the doctor directly. He is also conducting workshops in different cities.
Keep your cool... Life is more beutiful than you think....
You can achieve what you want... dont let your dreams shatter for something stupid like colour blindness...
