Dear Priya,
Does your company provide healthy snacks to employees? Y/N
My earlier company used to provide snacks in the head office for staff and in the plant for workers. Each day, the snacks were fixed.
If the answer is no to the above, are you willing to implement healthy snacks in the company? Y/N
Which kind of healthy snack would you prefer:
A) Salad, soup, fruit, juice, sprouts
B) Samosa, kachori, burger, cheese toast
C) A and occasionally B
We used to have poha, Upma, Pav Bhaji, Misal, Idli, etc., and all were made in the company/plant pantry. Two of the plants used to order Samosa Pav & Tea for its workers, as it was the only production unit.
What would be your estimated budget to spend on healthy refreshments?
A) 25
B) 35
C) 45
The budget depends on how large your organization is and what your budget is for the staff welfare fund.

Hi Roshni,
Thank you for your response. You mentioned earlier that two of the plants used to order samosa, pav, and tea. Do they have that daily? If so, do you think it is healthy for them to consume oily food daily?
Also, could you please provide me with an estimate of the budget allocated for each employee in your previous company?
Thank you.

Dear Priya, The way to increase the responses is to create a web-based survey. The way you have posted questions, people may not be willing to answer them in public.

Dear Priyagaba,
In an industrial setup, a healthy snack can only be a popular snack like idli, dhoklas, etc. However, the union always plays a very important role. The management does not take much initiative as they are afraid of unions. So, on a regular basis, it's always the taste buds that matter, and people want to eat things that they cannot make at home or are expensive (fried items are expensive) because at home, it's their own budget; in the factory, the company is spending on it, and it is subsidized.
What you should do is give healthy snacks either very subsidized or free and limited. So, you have an upper hand and right from the beginning, be particular and strict. Once people get used to it, then it's fine, but in no way should you give in for unhealthy snacks even once because then it will stay for good.
There are many snacks that are healthy; standardize them, make them tasty, and then give. I have 20 to 25 years of experience in industrial canteens, and I know that these things happen. Your management itself will not support you as they want to be popular in employees' eyes. Remember this and give me feedback at
