Dear Seniors,
Greetings!
I have a query pertaining to the Maternity Benefit Act. As per the act, we need to pay 6 weeks of average pay to the female employee before delivery and 6 weeks of pay after delivery. In view of this, whether this amount needs to be paid as ex-gratia or as a salary, and whether statutory deductions such as PF/ESIC, etc., shall be applicable or not.
Kindly guide.
