Hi Varuna,
This is something which is in the line for about a while in the market. In common, generalist/operations post in HR is very less compared to specific roles in HR. However you shall try getting into corporate as HR coordinator and time passes, you shall gain a generic experience in HR operations.
The reason for many people to get into recruitment is that they don't want to waste or pass the time, hunting for an operations role in HR. Cannot comment more as there are more than 3 Lakh candidates coming/passing out every academic year and there are not that many companies in our country who can provide jobs for all the candidates. Anyway wish you good luck!

You need to create chances of getting into a Generalist profile by yourself. If you try for such profile altogether in an industry different from which you have hitherto worked in, the chances will be that much difficult since companies prefer candiadtes with some expeience in this profile. Therefore I suggest you to try for a mixed profile of recruitment with some generalist operations in I.T industry itself, to start with, as your chances of getting it are brighter with youe I.T back ground instead of trying for an out and out generalist profile. this will enable you to suitably update your CV and look for a pure Generalist profile in future either in I.T industry or related servcie based industries.
