Hi All
Today the biggest HR issue any company facing is "COMPARISION" comparison among peers, comparison among peers in other industries and even within the same department people compare themselves.
Because of this comparison lots of issues are erupting in this situation how HR people should behave or how this situations should be tackled.
All HR Gurus inputs are welcome

That is going to be to issue for years to come...& this where we need to think like marketing people creating product diffrenciation - where does our org differs from others orgs in same industry & how our industry differs from other industry , create a USP for our company which will help in retaining & attracting talent...all this comparison has to be used so as to benefit us as an organization , we need to strategic partners by deciding how would we like create that difference - maybe by being the best paymasters , maybe by providing a great workculture...there are loads of things which we can think of by considering our organizations strengths & weaknesses.
As far as internal comparisons are covered - try rewarding teams , using a more teram approach instead of individual approach n appraisals all , it is something that has benefited us...let me know if it helps...

Hello everyone

There is a saying : There is no Apple to Apple comparison. If you apply the same principle, no two members in a company will doing exactly similar jobs/assignments. If the policies and management behavior is clear enough, even the employees will also understand and agree with the affairs. This situation will vary when two or more employees work together in a team or on a project. Their the success of the Project or Team is interlinked with each others work input or performances, there management can reward the entire team equally including the leader to avoid misunderstanding or to have a transparent policy. Similarly, if an employer is believing and displaying high respect for diversity, there also the situation will change because their could be additional benefits/soft benefits to diversity candidate and if other employees have a better understanding of the policies of management, they will not have a issue.

Hi,
Personally I don't think this as a problem. Benchmarking best practices and trying to achieve that is a standard practice. The said behavior..comparison is an unconscious benchmarking attempt and is a natural human tendency. To some extend i t is good. When a search engine company try to compare with Google, definitely they too will try to improve.
hope it is clear

dear all,
since time immemorial the comparisons have been existing in all spheres of life, may it be in personal, professional or social domain. The comparison at work place, inter or intra departmental or industry vide are inevitable and it is in fact required for a progressive functioning, for the development wouldn't have been achieved yet but the journey.... has started towards excellence.
This is where the role of HR plays a crucial role, in making the personnel of the organisation to undertstand the value and motive of the comparisons in the right perspective as well as in right direction. making them or communicating effectively to them the need in this highly demanding work environment is not only the enhanced competence skills but also varied skills and the right mix of attitudes with the skill sets required for performing in the job.
if there's anything more i could help.... would definitely attempt to.
