My husband has more than 7 years of experience in the Mechanical Field (Design & Production). He is currently undertaking an SAP MM course. Will he be able to secure a job in SAP as a fresher, or will his experience be taken into account? What can he expect in terms of salary as a fresher?

Dear Navida,

I hope this reply might have been delayed, and by this time, many things might have changed. However, I am still replying, which will be useful for other persons who can get the response on the same aspects.

I understand fully your problem. Since your husband is in the production field, he might have chosen the PP Module, which has very less competition and more demand in the present market. At the same time, the requirements will also be less only for SAP PP. But compared to MM, it's good in the market at the present stage.

SAP MM is also a good module with normal competition compared to the SD module.

Will he get a job in SAP as a fresher, or will his experience be counted?

Nowadays, the SAP market is a bit more competitive. So, without having certification in SAP MM, it's very tough to get a job. At the same time, if your husband has good contacts or friends in the SAP market, the process for a job would be quicker.

Of course, his experience will be counted when he joins in SAP MM in terms of his domain knowledge gained in 7 years in the Production Industry. Even now, certain top MNCs are considering the domain experience to offer a better salary and designations.

How about the salary for a fresher?

This is a very good question, and all SAP freshers with industry domain experience should know about this.

As I mentioned already, certain top MNCs maintain the salary structure based on domain experience. But many companies hiring SAP freshers with domain experience are considering a fixed salary irrespective of 7 or 8 years of domain experience, which will be nearly about 2 lakhs/annum or sometimes even less. But at the same time, I need to tell you, once the candidate crosses 2 to 3 years of SAP experience, then he can negotiate for a better salary. So, for at least 2 years, there is a need to struggle with a low salary.

I hope I have clarified all your doubts in a better way.

All the Best SAP Freshers!

Regards,

Nayeem.
